  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2½ tbsp water
  • 5 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp agua
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. For the crust, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter cubes and mix until crumbly. Gradually add water until dough forms. Chill in the fridge.
  2. For the filling, peel and slice apples. In a pan over medium heat, melt butter and add sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until apples are tender but firm.
  3. Roll out chilled dough for the pie crust and place in your pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and cover with another rolled-out dough layer.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush top crust with egg wash and sprinkle with almond flour and brown sugar. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
