Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (divided)
  • 3/4 cup butter (softened for base and cubed for topping)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (divided)
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. For the crust, beat together softened butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until fluffy. Combine flour, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl; gradually stir into the butter mixture. Spread evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. Bake the crust for about 15 minutes or until just set.
  4. For the filling, mix sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and cinnamon; set aside.
  5. For the streusel topping, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cubed butter until crumbly.
  6. Once the crust cools slightly, layer apple filling on top and sprinkle with streusel; press down lightly.
  7. Bake again for approximately 45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.
