  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into even pieces and caramelize in a skillet with butter and olive oil over medium heat for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Cut turkey bacon into thirds and cook slowly in another skillet until crispy; reserve drippings.
  3. Boil salted water and cook pasta until al dente; drain and set aside.
  4. In the skillet with reserved drippings, whisk flour over medium heat for two minutes, then gradually add cream and milk while stirring to create a smooth sauce.
  5. Stir in mustard powder, thyme, garlic powder, and hot sauce; simmer until flavors meld.
  6. Add cheeses to the sauce gradually until melted. Stir in caramelized onions and cooked pasta until well combined.
  7. Serve topped with chopped turkey bacon and fresh parsley.
