Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 6 tbsp brown butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and granulated sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until foamy (10-15 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until it forms a sticky dough ball.
  3. Lightly coat the dough with olive oil, cover, and refrigerate for at least 12 hours for the first rise.
  4. Prepare a greased baking pan and let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1½ to 2 hours after transferring it from the fridge.
  5. Make brown butter by melting half a cup over medium heat until golden-brown.
  6. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon into the brown butter until smooth.
  7. Dimple the risen dough with your fingertips and drizzle cinnamon-butter topping over it.
  8. Bake at 450°F for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before icing with powdered sugar mixed with milk and vanilla extract.
