  • 10 cups cubed sourdough or French bread
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups celery, finely chopped (about 34 stalks)
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the diced onion and chopped celery; sauté until soft and translucent (5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in the fresh herbs and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine cubed bread with the sautéed vegetable-herb mixture. Gradually pour in the broth while gently mixing until moistened but not soggy.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes to achieve crispy edges.
