  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing the tops)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for topping)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare a 9×13 pan by lightly buttering the bottom and sides.
  2. Melt butter in a small pot, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant; let cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt; mix well.
  4. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter; mix until combined.
  5. Knead dough on low speed for 10-12 minutes until smooth and tacky; add flour as needed.
  6. Cut dough into 12 equal pieces and shape into balls; place in the pan and cover to rise until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Brush risen rolls with beaten egg wash and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare additional garlic butter while baking; brush over rolls after they come out of the oven.
