  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup coconut milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, chili powder, and salt. Coat the chicken and let it marinate for at least an hour.
  2. Sauté onions: In a pan over medium heat, melt butter or ghee with oil. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add aromatics: Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger for about one minute before adding ground spices. Cook until fragrant.
  4. Create the sauce: Incorporate tomato paste and crushed tomatoes; simmer for 10 minutes. Add coconut milk or cream and stir well.

  6. Finish: Adjust seasoning if needed and add lemon juice just before serving.
