This creamy dish combines tender steak with layers of thinly sliced potatoes and rich cheddar cheese, creating an irresistible dinner option that’s perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.

  • 1 ½ lbs cubed sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 4 large Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter and sear the seasoned steak until browned. Remove from heat.
  2. Layer half of the potatoes in the slow cooker followed by half of the onions and garlic. Add the seared steak on top.
  3. Finish layering with remaining potatoes, onions, and garlic.
  4. Pour beef broth and heavy cream evenly over the layers; season as desired.
  5. Top with grated cheddar cheese.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until potatoes are tender.
