  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups finely chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture alternately with sour cream.
  6. Fold in chopped apples and nuts if desired.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for ten minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
